Product Description
The R7 Meta sits in the middle of KEF's R Series floorstanding lineup, built around the brand's 12th-generation Uni-Q driver array, the coincident tweeter-and-midrange design KEF also uses in its flagship Reference and Blade speakers. On the R7 Meta, the Uni-Q's aluminum dome tweeter is loaded with KEF's Metamaterial Absorption Technology, an intricate acoustic maze behind the dome that absorbs the majority of the rearward sound energy the tweeter would otherwise radiate, aimed at cleaning up treble clarity and imaging.
Two 6.5-inch hybrid aluminum-cone bass drivers flank the Uni-Q array in a vertical layout, adding low-frequency extension and output without asking the coincident driver to handle bass duty. KEF specifies in-room bass response down into the high-20Hz range.
The tower is offered in real wood veneer or gloss lacquer finishes, with a perforated microfibre grille designed to be sonically transparent enough that measured performance stays consistent whether the grille is on or off. It's sold individually, so a stereo pair means ordering two, and matching KEF center and surround models can extend it into a full home theater system.
