Why “proper”
There are two ways to buy a $3,000 amplifier online. One is from a grey-market seller who got the unit through a back channel, can't register your warranty, and is hard to find when something goes wrong. The other is from an authorized dealer.
We're building toward being the second kind for every brand in our catalog. Look for the Authorized Dealer badge on a product page: it means that manufacturer has authorized us in writing, your warranty is valid from the day it arrives, and the manufacturer will support you directly. We're growing that list of authorized brands deliberately rather than all at once, so you'll see it expand over time. Where a listing doesn't carry the badge yet, it's part of our catalog as we build out these relationships — contact us before ordering to confirm current availability.
What we actually compete on
Manufacturers set the price. Every authorized dealer for a given amplifier sells it for the same number — that is how MAP pricing works, and it is why you will see identical prices across dealers. Since the price is the same wherever you buy, the only thing that differs is who is on the other end of it.
So that is what we compete on:
- We answer the phone.
- We will tell you when a cheaper model is the better fit for your room.
- We coordinate the shipping and follow it to your door.
- If it arrives damaged, we handle the claim. You do not.
We are new, and we would rather say so
Proper HiFi launched in 2026. We do not have decades of history to point at. What we do have is a narrow focus, real authorization from the brands carrying our badge, and the time to give every single order genuine attention.
